Diamonds
can be cut into many shapes and sizes, and hence the buyer
has many shapes to choose from. The fancy shapes and brilliance
depends on the way the shape of a diamond and of course the
cut. Note, the term diamond cut does not refer to its shape.
While you must cut a diamond to make a shape, the shape is
essentially the overall geometry or form of the diamond (asscher,
oval, round, etc.), while the cut is the diamonds's facets
and proportions - the things the give diamonds their brilliance
and fire.
The
most requested diamond shapes are: Round, Princess, Emerald,
Radiant, Cushion and Asscher.
